A large gathering of Islamic scholars, political figures, and community leaders convened at the Kwata Central Mosque in Sabon Gari, Zaria, on Wednesday, 24th September 2025, to mark the Mawlid celebration, during which they lauded the Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government, Hon. Abubakar Jamilu Albani Samaru, for declaring a public holiday to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The event, organized by the National Fitiyanul Islam Society, Sabon Gari branch, and led by Sheikh Sharu Dallami Zaria, was widely attended and marked by unity and peaceful observance.

In his remarks, Sheikh Sharu Dallami praised the chairman for honoring a campaign promise to institutionalize the Mawlid holiday in the local government, calling it a bold and inclusive gesture. A special prayer was also held for the chairman and his administration, seeking divine guidance and success in their governance.

Representing the chairman, Hon. Kamilu, vice chairman of the LGA, emphasized the administration’s commitment to unity despite sectarian diversity, noting that while the chairman is affiliated with the Izala group and he himself with the Tijjaniyya order, both have worked harmoniously without discrimination.

In response to allegations of favoritism in appointments, Hon. Kamilu firmly denied the claims, stressing the administration’s fairness and openness to all.

Other notable figures who commended the initiative included Sheikh Surajo Bomo, Sheikh Suleman Limanci, and Hon. Sani Bazawa, member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Basawa Constituency.

The celebration concluded peacefully, with widespread praise for the leadership’s commitment to religious harmony and inclusivity.
