IAR Celebrates 2 Distinguished Scientists Conferred with Prestigious NPBA Fellowship

The Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has celebrated two of its outstanding plant breeders, Professor Muhammad Faguji Ishiyaku, former Executive Director of the institute and Dr. M. A. Yahaya for their well deserved conferment as Fellows of the Nigerian Plant Breeders Association (NPBA).
The prestigious recognition was awarded today 24th September 2025 during the 3rd International Conference of the NPBA, held at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, bringing together leading scientists, researchers, and stakeholders in plant breeding and agricultural innovation from across Nigeria and beyond.
This remarkable honour is a testament to the duo’s decades of impactful contributions to plant breeding, genetic improvement, and food security in Nigeria and Africa.
Professor Faguji Ishiyaku, a globally recognized leader in crop improvement and biotechnology, has dedicated his career to advancing cutting edge research and mentoring the next generation of plant scientists.
Dr. Yahaya, known for his innovation driven research and commitment to developing improved crop varieties, continues to shape the future of sustainable agriculture through science and technology.
