FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE, ZARIA AREA COMMAND PREVENTS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE IN A HOTEL FIRE
Earlier today at about 9:29 a.m., personnel of the Federal Fire Service, Zaria Area Command, responded to a fire outbreak at Shagalinku Hotel along Kofar Kibo–Dan Magaji Road, Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
The incident was promptly reported by a Good Samaritan, Bala Galadima, via a phone call to alert the authorities.
The fire affected an office in the hotel and was extinguished upon the arrival of firefighters under the coordinated leadership of ASF Hamza Nagogo, assisted by the Police from the Zaria City Division, who cordoned off the area, and personnel from the Kofar Doka Fire Station.
The swift response minimized property damage and the fire was contained after approximately one and a half hours of active operations.
One of the hotel staff, Malam Dikko, disclosed that they noticed smoke and alarming flames coming out of the building, which caused panic among people in the area, prompting a call to the Fire Service for intervention.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the cause of the fire was likely an electrical surge, as the seat of the fire was identified around an air-conditioning unit. However, further investigations are ongoing.
The Federal Fire Service urges the public to equip their homes and business premises with first-aid fire extinguishers and fire blankets. These essential tools can help control fires during emergencies and prevent escalation.
