A bulldozer in Nigerian Academia

Born on May 23, 1963, in Kano, Professor Fatima started her journey at Shahuchi and Shekara Girls Primary Schools, then attended Government Girls College, Dala. She studied Botany at Ahmadu Bello University and later earned her master’s and PhD from Bayero University. She also took a course in Agricultural Biotechnology at Michigan State University.

Her academic career began in 1994 at Bayero University Kano, where she rose to become a Professor of Botany in 2010. She held several key roles, including Head of Department and Deputy Vice Chancellor at Northwest University, Kano.

In 2016, she was appointed Vice Chancellor of Federal University Dutse by President Muhammadu Buhari. And in 2023, she made history as the first Vice Chancellor and first female VC of Azman University.
