Governor Uba Sani Calls for Peace in BATC Sabon Gari Land Dispute

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has called on all parties involved in the land dispute in BATC Sabon Gari, Zaria, to lay down their arms in order to ensure lasting peace. This call came after the Governor received reports about the ongoing tensions regarding the land, as shared by the Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government and the Chairman of the Kaduna State Traders Association, Honorable Abubakar Jamilu Albani Samaru.
In response, Governor Sani sent the Director-General of the Kaduna State Geographical Information System (KADGIS), Dr. Bashir, alongside the Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government, to investigate the matter.
A representative from a media outlet present at the scene reported the proceedings. After receiving the KADGIS team, Honorable Abubakar Jamilu Albani guided them on a tour of the BATC school grounds to assess the situation. The team was able to observe firsthand the tensions surrounding the land.
Speaking to the press, the Chairman of Sabon Gari explained that the visit was initiated by Governor Uba Sani to ensure peace and conduct a thorough investigation into the land dispute. He urged all parties involved to remain patient as the Kaduna State Government would ensure that justice is served.
Dr. Bashir, the Director-General of (KADGIS), confirmed that the Governor’s directive would be followed. He assured the public that the agency would conduct an in-depth investigation and take appropriate actions. He also mentioned that the issue had been previously addressed by the courts and that (KADGIS) would follow up on the court's ruling while striving to bring about lasting peace.
Dr. Bashir emphasized the importance of peace between all parties involved, urging them to await the findings of the investigation.
Malam Ahmad Shehu, the Sarkin Dillalai of the G.R.A 2 community, expressed his satisfaction with the steps taken by the Governor and emphasized the hope for justice. He noted that the land in question was not owned by those conducting Eid prayers, and called on the Kaduna State Government to carry out a thorough investigation.
A source revealed that the Jos Izala group has been conducting their Eid prayers at the site for many years. Previous administrations had allocated the land to certain individuals without considering the group, which has now led to the ongoing conflict.
