"Governor Buni Rolls Out 2025 Ramadan Basket, Extending Relief to Thousands Across Yobe"

Today, Tuesday, March 4th, Governor Mai Mala Buni, through the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA), kicked off the highly anticipated 2025 Ramadan Basket initiative.

This lifeline program is designed to step in and support vulnerable households, essential workers, and underserved communities across the state during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to SEMA Over 30,000 households spread across all 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) will benefit from food aid and essential items to tide them over throughout Ramadan.

More than 1,500 junior staff members, including teachers from the Teaching Service Board (TSB), the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and the Science and Technical Education Board (STEB), will be covered under the distribution plan.

Over 500 medical doctors working in remote areas will be looked after, ensuring that healthcare services keep running smoothly despite challenges.

Additional groups, such as widows, orphans, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable individuals, will also be brought on board, reinforcing the government’s commitment to standing by those in need.

Governor Buni, while weighing in on the significance of the initiative, made it clear that his administration is not backing down in its efforts to ease the burden on the less privileged.

He assured citizens that this program is not just a one-off intervention but part of a broader push toward long-term social welfare and inclusive governance.

As thousands of families gear up for Ramadan, this initiative is set to go a long way in bringing relief, strengthening community ties, and driving home the spirit of unity and compassion across Yobe State.
