Secretarial Professionals at 34th National Conference in Zaria

 The Chartered Institute of Professional Secretarial Staff of Nigeria (CIPSSON) has reaffirmed its commitment to equipping secretarial professionals with the skills and innovation needed to thrive in today’s digital era, as it opened its 34th Annual National Conference and Workshop at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

Delivering the welcome address, National President of CIPSSON, Nasiru Yaro, expressed appreciation to the management of ABU for hosting the conference and lauded members for their dedication to the growth of the Institute. He highlighted the remarkable transformation of CIPSSON from a mere association to a chartered professional body over the past eight years.

Yaro emphasized the theme of this year’s conference, “Innovative Roadmap to Success in the Dynamic Field of Secretarial Profession,” noting that it reflects the Institute’s resolve to embrace technology, creativity, and continuous learning in a rapidly changing office environment. He said the workshop aims to help members understand and adapt to emerging tools such as Artificial Intelligence rather than fear being replaced by them.

Mr. Nuhu Suleman Makarfi, the Secretary of the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), expressed his happiness at having the opportunity to host this very important and beneficial event. He praised all the participants who came from various states and prayed that just as the event started peacefully, may it also end peacefully.

the Vice Chancellor of ABU , Professor Adamu Ahmed represented by  Director institute of administration commended CIPSSON for organizing the event and urged the Institute to uphold ethical standards and prioritize training and retraining of members to stay relevant. He described the conference theme as timely, adding that technological advancement requires secretarial professionals to continuously evolve to remain indispensable in the workplace.

In his goodwill message, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, represented by the District Head of Basawa, Arc. Haruna Abubakar Bamalli, called on secretarial professionals to continue developing themselves to meet modern demands. 

Participants from various institutions across Nigeria, including Mrs. Ajayebumi Elizabeth of the Federal University of Technology Akure and Mr. Peter Simpson of the ABU Zaria branch, described the conference as impactful and inspiring.
