Youth Ambassadors Slam Bauchi Guber Aspirant Over Campaign of Calumny Against Senator Buba
By Khalid Idris Doya
A Northeast Zonal Political Pressure Group, the North East Youth Ambassadors, has condemned a governorship aspirant in Bauchi State for allegedly attempting to discredit Senator Shehu Buba Umar through what it described as an "anti-social" and cowardly smear campaign.
The group's Secretary-General, Mallam Bana Muhammad, said it was "ridiculous and cowardly" for any aspirant to believe that the only way to win support ahead of the 2027 polls is to tarnish the reputation of a political opponent.
Muhammad was reacting to a viral social media video circulated by an aide of one of Senator Buba's opponents, who is also vying for the Bauchi governorship seat. He criticised the use of what he termed a "fake video" to ridicule others for political gain.
"Why hide under a mask to perpetrate such an atrocity? If he is worth his salt, let him come out openly and declare his opposition, instead of hiding behind a façade," Muhammad said.
He added that a true contender should demonstrate courage and integrity, not resort to what he called "political stupidity and cowardice."
The youth leader questioned whether the politician was acting independently or merely serving as a tool for others, stressing that leadership should be about service to the people rather than personal or surrogate interests.
"It is better you leap before you jump," Muhammad cautioned, urging aspirants to pursue their ambitions with dignity and responsibility rather than divisive smear campaign.
