Vice-Chancellor commends ABU Ranking Committee

The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, has commended members of the University Ranking Committee for all their efforts in making the institution great.

Prof Ahmed made the commendation when members of the committee called on him  today, Friday, 4th July, 2025.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that things had changed drastically, and that the need to make the institution's name more visible at the global space became necessary.

Ahmed stated that the university would make good utilization of its Distance Learning Centre and Postgraduate College to gain more international recognition.

He expressed gratitude to the members of the committee for their tremendous services to the university and assured them the readiness of management to provide them with all necessary support.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof Mohammed Auwal Ibrahim, disclosed that the committee was formed in 2024.

Prof Auwal disclosed that the university recorded success by emerging the Best Public University in Nigeria based on Times Higher Education (THE) ranking of the year 2025.

According to him, the university had equally recorded another success when it submitted data for the interdisciplinary ranking.

He said the committee had also on behalf of the University submitted data for the QS ranking, which was the second best in the world in terms of credibility after the Times Higher Education.

Prof Auwal appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to continue to make the activities of the committee more visible.

Those, who supported the Vice-Chancellor in receiving the committee were Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof Raymond Bako.

Others included Deputy Vice-Chancellor Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi; Registrar, Malam Rabiu Samaila; and Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Ibrahim Sani Kaita.
