The Office of the Chairman, Sabon Gari Local Government Area, has strongly refuted allegations leveled against Sheikh Jamilu Abubakar Albani, who also serves as the State Coordinator of the Standing Committee on Qur’anic Recitation Competition (KSCQRC).
In a formal statement issued on Saturday, the local government described the petition addressed to Governor Uba Sani as “malicious, politically motivated, and completely unfounded.”
The statement highlighted Sheikh Albani’s decade-long dedication to promoting Qur’anic education and moral development across Kaduna State. It praised his commitment since 2015, noting his personal sacrifices in sustaining and improving the annual Qur’anic recitation competitions.
“Financial records are intact and transparent. Sheikh Jamilu has often used personal funds to ensure the success of Qur’anic activities, especially during delays in government funding,” the statement affirmed, countering accusations of financial impropriety.
On the claim of alleged misuse of a Sienna vehicle, the chairman’s office clarified that the vehicle remains under committee control and is strictly used for official duties. The removal of official markings, it explained, was a routine security precaution to prevent theft and impersonation.
Addressing concerns over Sheikh Albani’s political engagements, the statement argued that his dual role has enhanced, not hindered, the activities of the Qur’anic committee. “His political position has facilitated better access to resources, ensuring greater support for Islamic education,” it said.
The statement further alleged that the petition was orchestrated by individuals pursuing personal agendas rather than genuine community concerns.
“We reaffirm our absolute confidence in Sheikh Jamilu Albani’s leadership and integrity,” the statement concluded, urging the state government and the public to disregard what it described as a “divisive and unjustified smear campaign.”
The Sabon Gari Local Government reiterated its support for Governor Uba Sani’s administration, calling on citizens to focus on unity and the continued promotion of Qur’anic education in the state.
