ABU says Dantata's demise leaves a great void in hearts and minds
As the institution condoles with the bereaved family in Kano today
Ahmadu Bello University has condoled with the family of the late Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, saying his demise indeed left "a great void in our hearts and minds".
A delegation from the university delivered a condolence letter to the bereaved family at the deceased's residence at Sarari Quarters in Kano today (Tuesday, 22nd July, 2025).
The university, in the letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, said it remembered the deceased as a great education philanthropist.
The university also recalled that Dantata contributed financially, not only to its School of Basic and Remedial Studies in Funtua but also to its CISCO building on the main campus.
"We are also proud of the excellent accomplishments of the deceased since we conferred on him Honorary Doctorate on 20th January, 1990", according to the letter.
Presenting the letter, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi, said they came to condole with the family and appreciate his enormous contributions to the university.
Rafindadi described the late Dantata as an extraordinary gentleman and philanthropist whose legacies would continue to touch lives.
The late business mogul, according to him, contributed tremendously in the establishment of ABU's School of Basic and Remedial Studies (SBRS), Funtua.
Prof Rafindadi further said the late elder statesman also facilitated the building of CISCO, a structure which was later named after him.
He said there was no better way to impact on people's lives than to educate them and that was one legacy Dantata would continue to be remembered for.
Receiving the delegation on behalf of the family, the Secretary of the late business mogul, Mustapha Junaid, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for identifying with them in this trying time.
Junaid thanked the delegation for the good words used in appreciating the works and deeds of the late Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.
The Secretary said the family was not even aware of some of the projects carried by the great Dantata until after his death.
The Chief Imam of ABU Central Mosque, Dr. Sa'ad Abubakar Musa, presided over a prayer session after the presentation of the condolence letter.
Dr Musa prayed to Allah (SWT) to grant the deceased Jannatil Firdausi and give the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Those on the delegation comprised the Registrar; Malam Rabiu Samaila; Director, Directorate of Advancement and International Education, Prof Sani Abba Aliyu; and the Imam of ABU Central Mosque, Dr Sa'ad Abubakar Musa, who is Director, Centre for Islamic Legal Studies (CILS), ABU, Zaria.
Others were Principal Assistant Registrar in the Vice-Chancellor's Office, Musa Aliyu; and a media crew from the Public Affairs Directorates
