Kaduna Inaugurates 2025 Flood Emergency Operations and Response Strategic Team and 2025 Flood Tactical and Response Team
In a decisive move to mitigate the impact of predicted 2025 floods, the Kaduna State Government has inaugurated two high-level Stakeholders Flood Emergency Operation Response and Response Teams. The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), Dr. Usman Hayatu Mazadu, inaugurated the two committees on Thursday, July 17, 2025, on behalf of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State at the Headquarters of KADSEMA.
The newly formed team comprises experts and representatives from key stakeholders, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency (NHSA), Ministries, Departments, security agencies, and disaster management partners. The committee is tasked with strategic leadership and tactical oversight to ensure an efficient and coordinated response to potential flooding incidents.
Terms of Reference for the Committee Include:
✔ Search and Rescue Operations – Ensuring swift response to flood-related emergencies.
✔ First Aid and Medical Services – Providing immediate healthcare support to affected persons.
✔ Strategic Planning – Developing proactive measures to minimize flood risks.
✔ Coordination and Collaboration – Strengthening partnerships among agencies for seamless operations.
✔ Resource Mobilization – Securing necessary supplies and logistics for emergency response.
✔ Communication and Information Sharing – Ensuring timely dissemination of critical updates.
✔ Advocacy, Monitoring, and Evaluation – Tracking progress and impact of interventions.
✔ Provision of Temporary Shelter Support – Assisting displaced residents with safe accommodations.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Mazadu reiterated the state government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents. "The Governor is determined to ensure that no life is lost to preventable disasters. This team reflects our proactive approach to safeguarding Kaduna’s people through preparedness and swift action," he stated.
With the rainy season underway, the inauguration of this committee indicates Kaduna State’s resolve to prioritize disaster risk reduction and emergency response, ensuring resilience in the face of environmental challenges.
