Governor Dauda Lawal Partners with Chinese Companies to Boost Security, Agriculture, Transport, and Mining in Zamfara

In a significant step towards modernizing Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has forged a partnership with several Chinese companies to enhance key sectors including agriculture, security, transport, and mining. The collaboration was formalized during a visit by the Governor and his delegation to China from February 15 to 21, 2025.
Governor Lawal hosted representatives from these Chinese companies at the Government House in Gusau, where he expressed optimism about the potential of the partnership to bring about significant development in Zamfara.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the visit was aimed at strengthening ties between Zamfara and China, focusing on critical areas of economic growth. The Governor and his team engaged with prominent Chinese firms such as Zhong Zhao International Group, Phoenix Wings, Shenzhen HighGreat Innovation Technology Development Co., Ltd, and Xiamen Magnetic North Technology Co., Ltd, all of which are expected to play key roles in transforming the state’s sectors.
Strategic Partnerships for Agricultural Innovation and Fertilizer Production
One of the primary outcomes of the visit was a partnership with Zhong Zhao International Group, a company renowned for its expertise in modern fertilizers and advanced agricultural technology. Governor Lawal revealed that the company would assist in establishing a fertilizer production facility in Zamfara, aimed at enhancing local agricultural practices. The Governor also noted that the partnership would include the training of local farmers and professionals in modern farming techniques using advanced machinery.
Security Enhancements through Technology
In addition to agricultural development, the Governor announced a partnership with Phoenix Wings, a leading Chinese firm specializing in security technology, including unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). The partnership aims to introduce advanced security solutions to combat the growing issues of banditry, kidnapping, and other security challenges in Zamfara.
Transport and Infrastructure Development
The Zamfara delegation also engaged with Xiamen Magnetic North Technology Co., Ltd. and Xiamen King Long United Automobile Industry Co., Ltd. to discuss the development of modern transportation infrastructure in the state. The collaboration is expected to focus on the introduction of public transport systems and the construction of transportation hubs to improve mobility both within and outside Zamfara.
Advancing Mining and Sustainable Development
Furthermore, Governor Lawal highlighted the discussions with Tibet Ming, a Chinese company focused on increasing investment in Zamfara's mining sector. The partnership will focus on enhancing mining activities using modern technology and promoting sustainable development and community welfare in the region.
A Promising Future for Zamfara
Governor Lawal expressed confidence that these collaborations would significantly contribute to Zamfara's economic development and security. "This visit to China was a major step in fostering international partnerships that will bring lasting benefits to Zamfara State. We look forward to the successful implementation of these projects that will boost agriculture, enhance security, and improve infrastructure in our state," he stated.
The visit has already yielded promising results, as the Governor confirmed that several Chinese companies are now planning to establish operations in Zamfara State.
A Productive Visit
The Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, who was part of the delegation, also praised the outcomes of the visit. "Our visit to China was a highly productive one. We are already seeing the results, with major companies now set to bring their expertise to Zamfara," he said.
As Zamfara embarks on this new chapter of development, the partnership with Chinese companies could be a game-changer in the state's push for modernization, economic growth, and security enhancement.
