Elders in Samaru Must Unite – Hon. Yahaya Garba Nahanya

In the past week, our reporter, Fatima Idris Samaru, had an insightful conversation with one of the candidates for the Kaduna State House of Assembly seat from the opposition party, PDP, and a native of Samaru, Honorable Yahaya Garba Nahanya Samaru. Here’s an excerpt from their interview:
Hausa Media Reporters: Honorable, can you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Hon. Nahanya: In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. May Allah elevate the status of the Prophet and his family. As people know, my name is Honorable Garba Nahanya Samaru. I am a native of Samaru, and I’ve been a member of the PDP for many years. Currently, I am a candidate for the Kaduna State House of Assembly, representing the Basawa constituency in the Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Hausa Media Reporters: There are rumors that you are running for office. Is this true?
Hon. Nahanya: Yes, it is true, and with Allah’s help, we are confident of victory.
Hausa Media Reporters: What motivated you to contest at this time?
Hon. Nahanya: The motivation comes from the urgent need to address the challenges facing our people, particularly the youth who are struggling with unemployment. Despite the blessings Allah has bestowed on Sabon Gari Local Government, the youth have been left behind, and those previously elected have failed to meet their needs. This has led the people to urge us to step up and bring the necessary change. Hence, we are in the race to bring positive change.
Hausa Media Reporters: What are your key goals for your campaign?
Hon. Nahanya: My vision is clear with three main objectives: First, I want to ensure that Samaru experiences freedom and development. Second, I aim to bring development to Sabon Gari Local Government in all sectors. Third, I want to promote unity among the people of Sabon Gari as a whole.
Hausa Media Reporters: Have you seen any progress in your campaign so far?
Hon. Nahanya: Yes, I believe there has been significant progress, especially considering the current situation people are facing. The people are becoming more aware of the challenges and the need for change. First, people are tired of being misled by politicians who promise but fail to deliver. For instance, despite the presence of institutions like Ahmadu Bello University and others in Sabon Gari, the youth still face unemployment and lack opportunities. This is why we believe it's time to step up and work toward meaningful progress for our community.
Hausa Media Reporters: What advice do you have for the people of Samaru and Sabon Gari Local Government?
Hon. Nahanya: I have three key pieces of advice: First, I urge the youth of Samaru to wake up and become more discerning during elections. It’s time to choose the right leaders who can lead them to success at every level. My second piece of advice is for the elders of Samaru, particularly those (Yan Boko) community, to come together and set aside all differences in order to work towards the development of our community and the betterment of the future for our youth. Finally, I encourage the leaders of institutions around Sabon Gari Local Government to recognize that the educated youth in our area are struggling with unemployment. Despite the many opportunities available, they have not been provided with adequate support. It is their responsibility to create more opportunities, as guaranteed by the country’s laws.
