Ibrahim Imam (1916 – April 1980) was a Nigerian politician from Borno, who was the secretary of the Northern People's Congress (NPC) and later became a patron of the Borno Youth Movement.

In March 1953, it was Imam who moved the famous motion of adjournment in the Federal House of Representatives which prevented debate on Anthony Enahoro's (Action Group) motion for self-government by 1956. He had done this in the hope of retaining and increasing his influence within the party. 

A tempestuous character, powerful orator and one of Bornu's greatest sons in modern times, Ibrahim Imam was largely responsible for the expansion of the NPC in Northern Nigeria. However, he fell out with the party leadership and resigned from his office as General Secretary in 1954.

 

In 1958, he joined the Action Group Party and became a political ally of Chief Obafemi Awolowo. 

In the ensuing elections in the same year, the party captured most of the local government seats in the northeast provinces of Borno and Adamawa, defeating Sir Kashim Ibrahim, a teacher and legislator, who represented the NPC.

For this victory, Ibrahim Imam's house in Maiduguri was set on fire by some NPC thugs where three persons lost their lives. #HistoryVille
