FG Release 3 Barley and one Wheat Varieties By LCRI Maiduguri

The Lake Chad Research Institute's three (3) Barley and one (1) Wheat Varieties candidates presented by the Technical Sub Committee have been approved and released by the National committee on Naming, Registration and Release of Crop varieties, Livestock Breeds/Fisheries .
The 3 new barley varieties are LACRIBARLEY 1 ( Traveller),
LACRIBARLEY 2 (Explorer) LACRIBARLEY 3 (Prunella).
The adaption and approval was given at the 34th Meeting of National Committee on Naming, Registration & Release of Crop varieties, Livestock Breeds/Fisheries held at the conference room, National Centre for Genetic Resources and Biotechnology (NACGRAB) Ibadan.
Also the Durum Wheat variety, registered has been released as LACRIWHIT 18D (Crown).
Prof. Baba Gana Kabir the Executive Director of the institute, expressed his appreciation to the Hon. Minister of Agriculture and the entire staff of the Ministry for their support and contribution towards achieving this historical success.
He said, without the Ministry's support nothing will be achieved and hope to receive more support when the need arise.
While a knowledging the ARCN their supervising Agency for being with them throughout with advises and support which make them achieved their goals in researches.
Professor Baba Gana Kabir, Executive Director, LACRIN expressed satisfaction with the release of the new three barĺey varieties saying, the institute is very proud of its scientists who are addressing the Wheat, Barley and millet improvement in the country .
He said, these varieties have undergone thorough research and have been developed using the conventional method.
The Executive Director also commended the entire staff of the institute for their support and dedication in achieving these feat.
