Sabon Gari Market Association Calls on Governor Uba Sani to Repair Market Road

By Idris Umar, Zaria

The Sabon Gari Market Association in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State has called on the state governor, Senator Uba Sani, to fulfill the promise he made to repair the main road leading to the Sabon Gari Market.

This appeal follows the governor's recent visit to the local government, during which he pledged to commence the road construction within two weeks. However, the project is yet to begin, a situation that has led to concern and dissatisfaction among the traders.

The chairman of the association’s elders, Malam Aliyu Musa, stated that they are among the top contributors to the state’s internally generated revenue, yet their needs are being neglected. He explained that the poor condition of the road is hindering business activities and causing hardship for both traders and customers.

The chairman of the tricycle riders’ union, Malam Muhammad Sani Sa’eed, also noted that the road is exposing them to frequent accidents and financial losses. He urged the government to take urgent action.

Comrade Hasan Sandas, secretary of the National Youth Council in Sabon Gari, warned that if no action is taken, both the youth and the traders will respond, including blocking the road and using their votes in the upcoming elections to express their displeasure.

On his part, the Sarkin kasuwa of Sabon Gari Market, Malam Iliya Shuaibu, pleaded with traders and business owners to remain patient, expressing hope that Governor Uba Sani and the local government chairman will urgently address the situation to prevent further problems.
