12 Killed in Plateau: Senator Khalid Soba Vows Tough Action

At least 12 people lost their lives in a brutal attack on a bus in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on June 20, 2025. The bus, which belonged to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was carrying 18 passengers from Zaria, most of them from Basawa town in Sabon Gari Local Government Area – relatives traveling to a wedding ceremony in Plateau State.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was ambushed around 9:47 PM near the village of Mangun, where some angry youths from the area blocked the road and launched a vicious assault, resulting in the deaths of 12 people, including the driver, Muhammad Bashir. His father, Malam Garba Bawa, confirmed his death, stating that the late driver left behind two wives and eight children.

Malam Garba said they pray for God’s forgiveness for the deceased but expressed frustration with the unending killings, vowing not to forgive those responsible. He urged the government to take proper action and compensate the families of the victims.

Senator Khalid Soba Responds

Senator representing Kaduna Zone One Honorable Ibrahim Khalid Soba, expressed deep sorrow and condolences to the families of the victims. In an interview with Napetune Prime Hausa, the senator said the government would not sit idly by while citizens' blood continues to be shed. He stated:

> "We will take appropriate action. All those responsible for this heinous act must be apprehended. We will do everything possible to ensure justice for the families of the victims."

Immediate Actions Taken

Reports from the Plateau State Police Command indicate that security forces have already been deployed to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack. Meanwhile, those injured have been rushed to Mangu General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Currently, people from towns such as Basawa and Anguwar Rimi in Sabon Gari Local Government Area are gathering to express grief and solidarity, as funeral rites and mourning continue for the deceased.
