AI Technology is Not a Threat to Journalism, Engineer Abbas Abdullahi
Engineer Abbas Abdullahi stated that AI technology is not a threat to the development of society. He emphasized that AI technology will enhance and ease the way people, including journalists, carry out their work.
Engineer Abbas made this statement during a conference organized by *Almizan* newspaper to mark its 35th anniversary.
This year’s celebration is taking place in Kano, which began on the evening of Friday, January 10, 2025, after the arrival of guests from various towns.
On the second day of the conference, Saturday, January 11, 2025, Engineer Abbas Abdullahi delivered a lecture on the topic: *AI Technology: Its Uses and Challenges.*
Engineer Abbas provided a historical overview and the origins of AI technology, sharing insights on how AI technology can be beneficial as well as its potential drawbacks. However, he emphasized that AI technology is a development, just like other technological advancements.
He further highlighted that journalists can benefit from AI technology in various ways, including writing, editing, verifying data and news, analyzing images and videos, text, video, and voice editing, as well as other tasks related to journalism.
After completing his speech, the participants engaged in a Q&A session for further discussion and analysis, and the event concluded with prayers and a meal.
